Request for Driver Safety Course 

 

Driver Safety Course (DSC) is a formal request to take a defensive driving course in order to have the citation dismissed, rather than paying a fine and having the citation go as a conviction on your driving record. 

The option is available if you hold a valid Texas Driver's License or permit ( YOU CANNOT HOLD A CDL) or a member of the U.S. Armed Forces on active duty with an out of state driver's license AND show proof of financial responsibility (insurance). Request must be submitted on or before your appearance date

This option is NOT available if you are charged with speeding 25 mph or more above the posted speed limit or speeding 95 mph or more in any zone, if you hold a CDL, if you were charged with failing to stop and leave information or passing a school bus, have used this option to dismiss a citation in the last 12 months, or are charged for a violation occurring in a work zone with workers present. 

 

 Before completing this form you must go online and make a partial payment in the amount of $144.00. You will be required to submit proof of payment with this request. Please verifiy on your citation under Court Information which court your citation is in and select the correct court below.

You will need to submit proof of your valid Texas Driver's License and Auto Insurance ( Proof of insurance MUST show the defendant as a covered driver on the policy during the time the citation was issued) Insurance and License MUST be valid at the time the citation was issued.

Waiver of Trial and Motion for Driver Safety Course

I, the above styled defendant in this case, request permission to take a driver safety course pursuant to the provisions of Chapter 45 of the Texas Code of Criminal Procedure. I understand that if this request is granted the Court will allow me ninety (90) days to complete the course subject to the conditions set forth in the order.
